A Dhaka court on Sunday set 1 September for a charge-framing hearing in a corruption case against Tulip Siddiq, the niece of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, over allegations that she illegally acquired a flat from a private property developer in the capital's Gulshan-2 area.
Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 fixed the date after allowing a time petition filed by the defence. Former Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) assistant legal adviser Sardar Mosharraf Hossain is also accused in the case.
The case was transferred to Dhaka Special Judge Court 5 on 8 April 2026 by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz for further proceedings after the court received a published gazette notice summoning the two accused. The court had earlier ordered the publication of the gazette notice on 8 March.
On 18 February, the court issued arrest warrants against Tulip Siddiq and Sardar Mosharraf Hossain. Police later reported that they had been unable to arrest either of them. Following that report, the court issued its latest order and had previously fixed 29 March for the submission of a progress report.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case on 15 April 2025 against Tulip Siddiq, Sardar Mosharraf Hossain and Shah Md Khasruzzaman, alleging that they obtained a flat from Eastern Housing Limited through abuse of authority.
According to the case documents, the accused acted in collusion to take possession of a flat in Gulshan-2 without making any payment before registering the property in their names. The property is Flat B/201 at House No. 5A and 5B (old), now numbered 113 and 11B (new), on Road 71.
The Anti-Corruption Commission submitted its charge sheet against Tulip Siddiq and Sardar Mosharraf Hossain on 11 December 2025.
