Bangladesh gold rate surge again by Tk 4,374 per bhori

Gold prices in Bangladesh have risen for a second straight day after the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) announced a fresh increase in the domestic market.

Under the revised pricing, effective from Friday, the price of 22-carat gold has increased by Tk 4,374 per bhori (11.664 grams), taking the retail price, including VAT, to Tk 228,556 per bhori.

According to a notice issued by BAJUS, the price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 218,292 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will sell for Tk 187,440 per bhori. Traditional gold has been priced at Tk 153,148 per bhori.

The latest adjustment follows another increase introduced on 2 July, when BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori, bringing it to Tk 224,182.

The association said the revised rates will remain in force at jewellery shops across the country until further notice.

However, customers should note that making charges will continue to vary depending on the design and craftsmanship of individual jewellery items.

BAJUS also reiterated that VAT is already included in the listed selling prices of gold and silver ornaments. As a result, jewellers are not permitted to charge VAT separately. Existing rules governing the exchange and purchase of jewellery will remain unchanged, with making charges, the value of gemstones and applicable conditions continuing to apply separately where relevant.

The latest revision marks another move in what has been a volatile year for the precious metals market in Bangladesh.

So far in 2026, BAJUS has revised domestic gold prices 86 times, including 43 increases, 42 reductions and one adjustment linked to VAT.

Silver prices have also been increased alongside gold.

The new price of 22-carat silver has been fixed at Tk 4,899 per bhori, reflecting an increase of Tk 117. BAJUS has set the price of 21-carat silver at Tk 4,666 per bhori, while 18-carat silver will cost Tk 4,024 per bhori. Traditional silver has been priced at Tk 3,033 per bhori.

Silver prices have been revised 53 times this year, comprising 27 increases and 26 reductions, highlighting continued fluctuations in Bangladesh’s precious metals market.
