The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Friday advised the country's maritime ports to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 hoisted and urged all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution.

According to a special weather bulletin issued on Friday morning, the well-marked low over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas has weakened into a low-pressure area and now lies over central Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring regions. The system is expected to weaken gradually.

Despite the weakening low-pressure area, a steep pressure gradient continues over the North Bay and adjoining areas, which may trigger squally weather over the maritime ports, the North Bay and the country's adjoining coastal regions.

The BMD instructed the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to continue displaying Local Cautionary Signal No. 3.
