The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Chattogram, has postponed Saturday’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) examination as severe flooding continues to affect southeastern Bangladesh.
According to an official notice issued on Friday, the ICT examination (Subject Code: 275) has been deferred across all districts under the Chattogram Education Board’s jurisdiction, where it was originally scheduled to take place on 11 July.
The decision applies to examination centres in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khagrachhari, Rangamati and Bandarban.
The education board stated, "A revised date for the examination would be announced in due course.”
Officials said, "The postponement was necessary because persistent heavy rainfall and flash floods have significantly disrupted normal life across the region, creating difficulties for students, examination staff and transport services.”
The board also highlighted widespread electricity outages, which have affected communication in several flood-hit areas.
To ensure candidates receive the latest information, centre in-charges have been instructed to use public announcement systems to notify students and their guardians about the change.
Large parts of the Chattogram region have experienced continuous rainfall recently, triggering flash floods and causing widespread disruption.
Authorities are continuing emergency response efforts as rising water levels affect transport, public services and local communities.
The postponement comes as officials monitor the evolving flood situation, with further updates on the rescheduled examination expected once conditions improve.
