Amit provides relief assistance to flood victims in Ctg

The government has intensified relief operations in flood-affected parts of Chattogram, with emergency food, drinking water and other essential supplies being delivered to families impacted by recent flooding and prolonged waterlogging.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit led the relief distribution on Sunday in the Chandgaon C&B, Mohra and South Kattli areas, where many residents have been struggling with the effects of rising floodwaters.

Emergency assistance included dry food, rice, lentils, cooking oil, purified drinking water and other daily necessities. The relief campaign was carried out in coordination with local authorities and elected representatives.

The state minister was accompanied by Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain, Member of Parliament Ershad Ullah and Member of Parliament Sayed Al Noman during visits to several affected neighbourhoods.

The delegation also met residents in their homes to assess the extent of the damage and hear first-hand accounts of the difficulties caused by flooding and waterlogging.

Officials were instructed to ensure that necessary assistance reaches communities facing the greatest hardship.

Speaking during the visit, Amit said government agencies, local administrations and public representatives were working together to support people affected by the disaster under the Prime Minister’s humanitarian response.

He said no affected family would be left without assistance and pledged that the supply of food, safe drinking water, medicines and other emergency support would continue as long as required.

Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain said all relevant departments of the Chattogram City Corporation remained actively engaged in the relief effort and would continue working until the situation returned to normal.

Senior government officials, political representatives and volunteers from several social and charitable organisations also took part in the relief operation, supporting the distribution of emergency supplies across the affected communities.
