The Prime Minister of Bangladesh has declared that his administration will overcome any challenge to rebuild the nation, provided the government maintains the trust of the public.

Speaking during an interactive event in the southern region of Barishal, Tarique Rahman emphasised that the strength of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party rests entirely with the citizens. The leader called for national unity across all political, religious, and professional backgrounds to help move the country forward.

The remarks were made during a meeting with local women who receive support from the state-run Family Card initiative in Gournadi. The social welfare programme provides financial aid to low-income households to help them manage rising living costs.

Several participants spoke at the event to share how the subsidies have altered their daily lives. One local resident, Parul Akter, explained that the financial assistance had directly eased the economic hardships facing her family. Other recipients noted that the monthly funds allowed them to buy essential medicines, cover household expenses, and pay for the education of their children.

Tarique Rahman stated that these personal accounts confirmed the positive impact of the state assistance. The Prime Minister announced plans to scale up the initiative, with the ultimate goal of offering the Family Card to every eligible woman across the country to bolster financial independence and improve access to education.

The leader also reaffirmed a commitment to secular harmony and social inclusion, noting that people of different faiths have coexisted peacefully in the country for generations. Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon joined the Prime Minister at the event alongside regional political figures.

Following the welfare meeting, the PM travelled to Barishal City to launch a separate ecological initiative. Speaking at a canal restoration site, the leader urged the public to take personal responsibility for the environment by stopping the indiscriminate dumping of plastic waste.

In that event, the PM shared his lifelong habit of keeping used tissues in his pockets throughout the day, ensuring they are only thrown into a proper dustbin upon returning home at night.

The PM warned that plastic pollution and littering pose long-term risks to public health and future generations. Drawing comparisons to clean cities abroad, the leader argued that achieving a cleaner nation requires collective civic action rather than relying solely on state workers.

To conclude the regional visit, the Prime Minister inaugurated a new tree-planting drive along the banks of the Sagardi Canal, framing environmental protection as a core pillar of the national renewal strategy.
