Seven more people have died from measles and measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours to 8:00am on Tuesday, taking the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 766, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest deaths, one was laboratory-confirmed as caused by measles, while the remaining six were classified as suspected cases.

The latest figures raise the number of suspected measles deaths to 671, while the total number of laboratory-confirmed fatalities has reached 95.

The DGHS also reported 868 new suspected measles cases during the reporting period, bringing the nationwide total to 113,244.

A further 122 laboratory-confirmed infections were recorded over the same period, increasing the cumulative number of confirmed measles cases to 13,735.

Since 15 March, a total of 96,027 people with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 92,383 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
