Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government is fully prepared to deal with the ongoing flood situation, with relief operations continuing in affected areas across the country.
Speaking while distributing relief among flood victims in Fashiakhali of Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar on Friday, he said both government and private organisations were working to provide assistance to those affected.
The minister said authorities were assessing the damage caused by flooding in different parts of the country. Once the survey is completed, the government will take the necessary steps to rebuild damaged roads, educational institutions, embankments and other public infrastructure.
He added that affected farmers would also receive support to help them resume normal livelihoods as quickly as possible.
Salahuddin Ahmed said the BNP-led government would continue to stand by flood-affected communities, adding that relief assistance would remain ongoing.
After the relief distribution, the minister visited flood-damaged embankments, roads and residential areas in Charakul, Chakaria. He spoke with affected residents, listened to their concerns and instructed the local administration to take prompt and effective measures to address the situation.
Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner A Mannan, Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Delwar and other local officials accompanied the minister during the visit.
