Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said the government will continue relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected communities until the recovery process is fully completed.
Speaking while distributing relief among flood victims in Patenga, Chattogram, on Friday, the minister said around 700,000 people had been affected by the floods across the district.
He said more than 100,000 people had already received relief assistance, while rehabilitation work was progressing alongside emergency support.
"Rice, cooked meals and dry food are being distributed among the flood-affected people," he said.
The minister said flooding had damaged many roads and instructed the authorities concerned to speed up repair work, adding that restoration efforts were already underway.
After the relief distribution in Patenga, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury travelled to Chandanaish upazila. He is also scheduled to distribute relief among flood victims in Satkania, Lohagara and Banshkhali later on Friday.
