ICT Minister attends World AI Conference 2026 in Shanghai

The minister for posts and telecommunications, Fakir Mahbub Anam, has joined the four-day World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC)-2026 in Shanghai, China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday inaugurated the four-day conference 20 at a grand opening ceremony in Shanghai.

President of Kazakhstan, Prime Minister of Thailand, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) were present.

Speakers stressed united efforts to ensure the sustainable use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Bangladesh’s minister, Fakir Mahbub Anam, will address a high-level meeting on global cooperation in AI governance on Saturday.

He will present Bangladesh’s position and future roadmap on strengthening international cooperation to ensure the responsible use of AI.

Government representatives, technology experts and researchers from different countries are participating in the conference held in 2026, where key discussions will focus on the future of AI technology and the formulation of global policy frameworks.
