Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal has called for a collective effort to build a Bangladesh where enforced disappearances and crossfire become matters of the past, saying the country’s future should be founded on the rule of law, constitutional governance and respect for human rights.

Speaking to reporters on Friday after visiting the home of former Bhanga Gharua Union Chairman Alomgir Hossain in Faridpur, Kamal said the country had an opportunity to move towards a more accountable and democratic system through cooperation and public trust.

He said Bangladesh should be governed in a way that ensures the rule of law is upheld, human rights are protected and the Constitution remains the foundation of state institutions.

Kamal also appealed for public patience and tolerance as democratic institutions continue to develop. He said the country’s democratic journey was progressing gradually and required the support of citizens to become stronger and more stable.

According to the Deputy Speaker, lasting democratic progress depends on cooperation across society. He said Bangladesh should be built in a way that gives people confidence that justice is fairly administered, individual rights are safeguarded and public institutions operate within constitutional principles.

Shahidul Islam Babu, the lawmaker representing Faridpur-4, and local leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) attended the visit.

Kamal’s remarks come as political leaders continue to discuss governance, democratic reforms and the protection of civil liberties in Bangladesh. His comments focused on strengthening legal institutions and encouraging public participation in the country’s democratic development.
