Army chief heads to Türkiye for 5-day official visit

The Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has left Bangladesh for a five-day official visit to Türkiye following an invitation from the Turkish government.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit will focus on expanding defence cooperation between the two countries through discussions with senior military leaders and officials from Türkiye’s defence sector.

During the trip, General Waker-Uz-Zaman is expected to visit several defence industry facilities to gain first-hand knowledge of Türkiye’s military manufacturing capabilities and ongoing developments in the sector.

The army chief is also scheduled to hold courtesy meetings with senior officials of the Turkish Armed Forces.

The discussions are expected to cover issues of mutual interest and explore opportunities to strengthen defence collaboration between Bangladesh and Türkiye.

The visit reflects the continuing engagement between the two countries in the defence sector and aims to enhance bilateral military relations through dialogue and cooperation.

According to the ISPR, the programme includes exchanges with leading figures in Türkiye’s defence industry as part of efforts to broaden cooperation in areas of shared strategic interest.
