South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh, Kim Ji-Joon, today paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser, Brig. Gen. (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment.

During the meeting, the defence adviser and the ambassador exchanged greetings and recalled the longstanding friendly and excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release issued on Tuesday afternoon.

The two sides discussed potential areas of cooperation to support the ongoing modernisation and capability enhancement of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.

They also exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in military equipment, defence technology transfer, shipbuilding, joint training and advanced military education.

Both sides expressed positive attitudes towards expanding cooperation in these fields and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening bilateral defence relations.

The meeting also focused on ways to elevate the existing defence and diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and South Korea to a new height, the ISPR said.

Expressing optimism about future collaboration, both sides hoped that bilateral initiatives would further strengthen and consolidate the friendly relations and defence cooperation between the two countries in the coming years.
