PM chairs ongoing ECNEC meeting at Secretariat

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) met on Wednesday morning with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presiding over discussions on a range of proposed development projects.

According to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, the meeting started at 10:00am at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat.

A number of senior cabinet members attended the session, including Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Power and Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku, Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Water Resources Minister Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, and State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki.

Senior officials from the ministries and government agencies concerned also joined the meeting to present and examine proposals relating to ongoing and planned development initiatives.

ECNEC is the government’s highest body responsible for approving major public investment projects. Its meetings play a central role in determining priorities for infrastructure, energy, transport, water resources, health and other sectors, with project proposals assessed before receiving final approval.
