The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations postponed under the Chattogram Education Board following severe flooding and adverse weather will restart on 27 July, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has announced.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday, the minister said, "A revised timetable for the postponed examinations is being finalised and will be released shortly.”
He said, "The government remained committed to ensuring that students did not suffer academically because of natural disasters," adding that every effort was being made to protect their education and future.
According to the minister, the postponed examinations will be completed within the existing examination period.
Authorities are also preparing special arrangements for candidates who were unable to attend examinations because of exceptional circumstances created by the floods.
The disruption began after persistent heavy rainfall and widespread flooding affected parts of south-eastern Bangladesh.
Initially, HSC and equivalent examinations scheduled for 8 July were suspended in five districts under the Chattogram Education Board.
As weather conditions continued to deteriorate, the suspension was extended, with all examinations under the board halted until 16 July.
The examinations in the five affected districts were later postponed indefinitely as floodwaters and difficult travel conditions continued to disrupt normal life.
The announcement of a resumption date is expected to provide greater certainty for thousands of students whose examination schedules were interrupted by one of the region’s most severe bouts of monsoon weather in 2026.
Education officials are expected to publish the revised examination routine in the coming days, allowing candidates to prepare for the remaining papers before the examinations resume on 27 July.
