Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push five people across the border into Bangladesh early on Thursday morning.
The incident happened around 4:00 am near border pillar 76/4-S, which falls under the Darshana border outpost in Chuadanga district.
According to border officials, members of the BSF’s 32 Battalion from the Gede camp tried to force five unidentified people—one man, three women, and a child—across the boundary line into Bangladeshi territory.
A BGB patrol team spotted the group immediately and stepped in to block their entry. Towasin Habib Hasan, acting commanding officer of the Chuadanga BGB Battalion, said the firm response from Bangladeshi guards forced the group to wait near the border wire fence.
Seeing the strong stand taken by the BGB, the Indian border guards eventually took the five people back into Indian territory, preventing the push-in attempt from succeeding.
Towasin Habib Hasan added that border guards remain on high alert to stop all illegal border crossings, protect the frontier, and maintain peace along the boundary line.
