Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said that it has prevented what it described as an attempted push-in by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along the Daulatpur border in Kushtia early on Friday.
According to the BGB, the incident took place at around 5:10am near border pillar 152/1-S under the Jaipur Border Outpost (BOP) in the Mahishkundi area of Pragpur Union.
The border force alleged that personnel from the BSF’s 146 Battalion, based at the Char Meghna camp, attempted to send eight people into Bangladesh by directing them across a river that separates the two countries.
The group reportedly consisted of two men, four women and two transgender people. Their identities were not immediately known.
BGB said, "Its patrol team quickly moved to the area after detecting the movement and took up positions along the frontier. The force said its presence prevented the group from crossing into Bangladesh.”
“The eight people later returned to the Indian side through the river, bringing the alleged push-in attempt to an end without any reported confrontation,” BGB further stated.
Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, Commanding Officer of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB), said, "The force remains on high alert to stop illegal crossings and safeguard Bangladesh’s borders.”
He added that BGB personnel continue to carry out their responsibilities with vigilance and professionalism to prevent unlawful infiltration while maintaining security and stability in border areas.
The Border Guard Bangladesh did not provide further details about the individuals involved or the circumstances that led to the alleged attempt. There was no immediate response from India’s Border Security Force regarding the allegations.
