Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has called for a comprehensive long-term strategic plan to overhaul medical services at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal.

Speaking at a special administrative meeting held in the hospital auditorium, the minister emphasised that patient care must be upgraded through modern medical equipment, skilled staffing, and digital management systems.

He stated that hospital operations must be built around strict accountability, clear transparency, and a welcoming environment for patients seeking treatment.

Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan noted that the government is carrying out several development projects to bring essential healthcare closer to local communities.

He urged doctors, nurses, administrative officers, and support staff to work together closely to make these official efforts successful.

The minister stressed that introducing technology-driven services and good governance across hospital departments will allow patients to receive quicker and higher-quality care.

He added that a hospital must serve as a pillar of public trust, not just a place for medical treatment.

Achieving that trust, he said, requires sincerity and professional skill from healthcare workers, alongside honest and accountable management.

He stated that meeting public expectations remains a top goal for ministers, with everyday patient needs taking priority in all government planning.

Several senior health officials addressed the meeting, including Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Dr AKM Mashiul Munir and College Principal Professor Dr Md Anwar Hossain.

Divisional Health Office Deputy Director Dr Mohammad Lokman Hakim and Hospital Deputy Director Dr AKM Nazmul Ahsan also contributed to the discussions.
