Chinese Embassy eases visa requirements for BD visitors

The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has introduced a simplified visa application process for Bangladeshi businesspeople and other visitors planning to attend the 140^th China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, in Guangzhou.

An embassy announcement issued on Tuesday stated that the exhibition will take place in three phases between 15 October and 4 November 2026.

Under the revised arrangements, applicants travelling to the Canton Fair will only need to provide the official invitation letter issued by the event organisers as the mandatory supporting document when applying for a visa.

The embassy said applicants may also choose to upload additional documents when completing the online application.

These may include copies of previous Chinese visas, travel records and company guarantee letters, which could help support the application process.

Officials urged applicants to complete the online visa application form carefully, warning that submissions containing inaccurate or incomplete information may not be accepted and could be returned for correction. Such errors, the embassy said, could lead to delays and affect planned travel.

The embassy also cautioned applicants against providing forged invitation letters, false information or counterfeit documents.

It warned that any attempt to submit fraudulent materials could result in a visa refusal and may negatively influence future applications for entry into China.

Reiterating its official procedures, the embassy stressed that it has not authorised any individual or organisation to offer visa services on its behalf.

It said decisions on visa category, validity, permitted length of stay and the number of entries would be determined according to Chinese regulations and the circumstances of each applicant.

The notice also advised prospective travellers to remain alert to fraudulent claims, including offers of ‘guaranteed visas’, ‘no visa, no fee’, ‘inside contacts’ or so-called ‘special channels’. The embassy described such promises as scams and urged applicants not to rely on unofficial intermediaries.

Instead, it encouraged travellers to complete their own online visa applications and to seek assistance directly from the Chinese Embassy or the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Dhaka if they require official guidance.

The updated measures are expected to make it easier for Bangladeshi businesses and visitors to participate in one of China’s largest international trade exhibitions while reinforcing safeguards against visa fraud and misinformation.
