The first meeting of the Bangladesh-China Parliamentary Friendship Group of the 13th Parliament was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its chairman, Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, MP, in the chair.
Members of the committee, Md Shahidul Islam, MP, Md Hasan Rajib Pradhan, MP, Jahrat Adib Chowdhury, MP, Mahamuda Habiba, MP, Mohammad Nazibur Rahman, MP, Mohammad Mosleh Uddin Farid, MP, and Md Abul Hasnat, MP, attended the meeting.
The meeting began with the recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by an introduction of the members and preliminary discussions, said a press release of the Parliament Secretariat.
During the meeting, the members discussed the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and China and reviewed China’s growing importance in the current geopolitical context.
They also held detailed discussions on further strengthening the Bangladesh-China strategic partnership, promoting bilateral exchanges of parliamentary delegations, and increasing Chinese investment to help reduce the bilateral trade imbalance.
Senior officials of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present at the meeting.
