BNP standing committee member and former minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, 'Many demands have been created among the people, many expectations have been awakened. If we want to build a new Bangladesh, there cannot be any division. BNP does not do politics of division. BNP will build a happy and prosperous country with people of all religions and castes.'
He said, 'Everyone in the country will have their religion, culture. Everyone will celebrate their own religious festivals. There can be no conflict with democracy with this, there can be no conflict with the constitution. As a nation, as politicians, we have to be tolerant. Just as people have different religions, political differences will also be different. But for the sake of the country, for the sake of the people, everyone has to be united.'
He said these things as the chief guest at the Dharma Sammelan and Sadhu Sant Rishi Vaishnava Maha Sammelan on the second day of a national 4-day program on the occasion of Shri Krishna's Shubh Janmashtami at the JM Sen Hall premises in Chittagong on Saturday afternoon.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, when a great man is born in society, he works for the good of all. He appears for world peace. Then his good work is a blessing for all mankind. Similarly, Shri Krishna was born in the Dwapara Yuga to free human society from injustice and injustice. He killed many demons including Kansa and established peace in society.
He said, there are clashes and wars going on in many countries of the world now. People are dying, at this time everyone needs tolerance. But those who are killing people, causing clashes sometimes talk about religion, sometimes talk about caste and sometimes talk about culture.
Stating that he does not like being called a non-communal personality, the BNP leader said, “I am called a non-communal personality at various events. Why do I have to say that? My constitution talks about equal rights for all people. So why do I have to say non-communal? So is there any problem here. If you follow the constitution of Bangladesh, you must be non-communal. The constitution of Bangladesh fully talks about the non-communal spirit. So, if you are non-communal, not just in the guise of non-communalism, but truly non-communal, there will be no violence in the country. Similarly, I do not accept the word minority. There is no word for minority. We are all Bangladeshis and it is the responsibility of any government to ensure the rights of everyone as Bangladeshis.’
He further said, overall we are one nation, one country, one society. Those who do communal politics have been destroyed time and again, and have tried to start anew time and again. But the common people of this country hate communalism with all their hearts. Where we stand in today’s Bangladesh, everyone is expressing their determination to build a new Bangladesh.
The ceremony was presided over by Lion RK Das Rupu, General Secretary of the Janmashtami Udjavan Parishad Bangladesh Central Committee, and the Mangal Pradip was lit by the Mohant of Banshkhali Rishi Dham, Shrimat Swami Sachidananda Puri Maharaj. The welcome speech was delivered by the Executive General Secretary of the Janmashtami Udjavan Parishad Bangladesh Central Committee, Biplob De Partha.
