BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed on Monday said that his party is considering forming a grand alliance with the parties that simultaneously participated in the anti-fascist movement.

He said, “This is so we can unite and win the upcoming election. However, unity within the nation is our highest priority. We are sending a message to everyone to stay on the right path to uphold that unity.”

Salahuddin Ahmed made the remarks while talking to journalists after paying tribute at the tomb of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal.

Stating that Bangladesh will become youth-dependent, the senior BNP leader said, “We hope Bangladesh will become a youth-centric country, focused on employment generation and technological advancement. It will be a Bangladesh built on the thoughts and aspirations of the youth—one that is merit-based and forward-looking. This is the dream cherished by the martyrs of the July Uprising and the War of Liberation. Therefore, we will move forward, Insha’Allah, by internalising the political ideals and aspirations of these young people.”

In response to a question about the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s meeting with potential candidates for the upcoming national election, Salahuddin said, “We have spoken with multiple qualified candidates for each seat across the country. This is a part of that process.”
