The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has unveiled a list of potential candidates for 238 constituencies following a meeting of its Standing Committee on Monday.
Party Chairperson Khaleda Zia is expected to contest in Dinajpur-3 and Bogura-7, while acting chairman Tarique Rahman has been nominated for Bogura-6 in the forthcoming national election scheduled for February.
The announcement was made by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Dhaka. He clarified that the list is provisional and may be amended in the lead-up to the elections.
The Standing Committee meeting, which began at 12:30 pm and concluded around 5:30 pm, was chaired virtually by Tarique Rahman from London.
Attending members included Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Selina Rahman, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, and Dr AZM Zahid Hossain. Divisional organising secretaries were also present at the office during the meeting.
