Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Syed Emran Saleh Prince has smelt a conspiracy to reinstate the Awami fascists and thwart the 13th parliamentary election behind the demand of a referendum prior to the forthcoming polls.
“Demanding a referendum before the election is mainly to foil the upcoming general elections. Through the demand, they are trying to re-establish the Awami fascists entirely,” he said.
He made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest a massive gathering marking the Nation Revolution and Solidarity Day organised by the BNP and its affiliated organisations on the Mohammadia Dakhil Madrasha ground at Dhobaura Upazila in the district.
The BNP leader said that Jamaat and some other political parties fear the election and the people of the country after seeing the increasing trend of popularity for his party, the list of their probable candidates and their preparation for the upcoming elections.
“So, they are making various excuses to defer the election scheduled for February next. They are trying to create chaos by bringing some issues like charter and PR (proportionate representation) system,” he said.
Prince, who got the BNP ticket from Dhobaura constituency for taking part in the forthcoming elections, has called upon the leaders and activists of the party to work in unison for the victory of the “Sheaf of Paddy”, forgetting all differences.
Dhobaura Upazila BNP former president Alhajj Mofiz Uddin, Convener Prof Azharul Islam Kazaland and Member Secretary Anisur Rahman, among others, were present.
