BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated on Wednesday that BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia never left the nation despite severe illness and a political crisis.

Begum Khaleda Zia is our inspiration.  Despite numerous illnesses and crises, she never abandoned the party or the country.  “She remained undeterred, and that is our pride,” he stated.

Rizvi made these words while speaking at a Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal-organised prayer ceremony in Naya Paltan in support of Begum Khaleda Zia’s recovery.

Rizvi claimed Khaleda Zia had always mentored party members through difficult times.  “She showed us the path from darkness to light.  “She taught us how to keep our heads up in times of crisis, how to maintain restraint in the face of opponents, and how to stay united even during turbulent times,” he said.

Rizvi said that ‘avengeful and authoritarian’ governmental machinery harassed her and that her failing health was the result of a conspiracy.

He also slammed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, citing recent claims of gold discovered in a bank vault and accusing her of corruption.  He claimed Sheikh Hasina fled after failing to undermine the country.

Rizvi emphasised the necessity for a free and fair national election in February, before to Ramadan.

“The people’s right to choose their government must be ensured,” he said, expressing confidence that the interim administration will remain impartial and address the circumstances created by Sheikh Hasina’s tenure.

He went on to say that millions of Bangladeshis ‘love and pray’ for Khaleda Zia, inspired by her patriotism and commitment to the country.
