Special prayers were held across the country for the recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at the CCU of Evercare Hospital in the capital.

The BNP organised these prayers in mosques across the country today after Juma prayers.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior leaders participated in a Doa Mahfil (prayer gathering) organised in front of the central party office in Nayapaltan.

During the event, the BNP Secretary General said, “Begum Zia dedicated her life to democracy. Her illness began in prison. She became gravely ill due to a lack of proper treatment.”

“People of Bangladesh, irrespective of party affiliation or opinion, are praying for this great leader. The citizens of the country are appealing to Almighty Allah so that she recovers and returns to us, and that we may overcome the country’s crisis under her guardianship,” he added.

Requesting prayers from everyone for the party chairperson’s recovery, Mirza Fakhrul said, “Let us all pray to the Most Merciful so that the leader who has fought lifelong for democracy may recover and return to us.”

BNP leaders and activists at all levels, along with the general public, from the capital and across the country, including those from its associate and affiliated organisations, participated in the prayers.

Simultaneously, prayers were requested in temples, churches, pagodas, and other religious places of worship for the recovery of Khaleda Zia.
