Begum Khaleda Zia, the BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister, is currently being treated with the help of a ventilator.
A statement from the medical team working on her care said that Khaleda Zia was put on a high-flow nasal cannula and a BiPAP machine because of more breathing problems, lower oxygen levels, and higher carbon dioxide levels.
The medical board created for her, which includes both local and foreign experts, sent the latest medical report at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, which contained this information. Evercare Hospital’s Professor Dr Shahabuddin Talukder signed the statement for the medical board.
On Thursday evening, Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media group, sent this statement to the press.
Khaleda Zia was first put on a high-flow nasal tube and a BiPAP machine because it was getting harder for her to breathe, her blood wasn’t getting enough oxygen, and the carbon dioxide levels in her blood were rising, according to the latest information from the medical board. But because she wasn’t getting any better, she was put on “elective ventilator support” to give her lungs and other organs a break.

The doctors said that because her kidneys stopped working, she had to start dialysis, which she still receives regularly. Because of problems with gastrointestinal bleeding and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), she needs multiple blood donations.
Also, a regular echocardiogram showed problems with the aortic valve, and a follow-up “TEE” (Transesophageal Echocardiogram) test found Infective Endocarditis.
After making this diagnosis, the Medical Board doctors started treatment based on standards from around the world.
On November 27, the patient was found to have acute pancreatitis, which is still being treated. At the same time, she is getting strong antibiotics and antifungals because doctors found serious bacterial and fungal infections in her body.
Khaleda Zia’s daily medical care is being done by a multidisciplinary team of experts from this country and others, with specialists from a variety of fields keeping a close eye on her health.
The doctors asked the media and the public to believe the Medical Board, respect the patient’s privacy, and not share information that is false or hasn’t been verified.
Khaleda Zia has been dealing with many long-term problems, such as diabetes, arthritis, and heart, liver, and kidney disease. On November 23, she was taken to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka after having more trouble breathing, coughing, and having a fever at home in the last week of November.
After she was admitted, tests showed a quick worsening of her lungs, heart, and kidneys. This led to her quick move from the cabin to the Critical Care Unit.
