The BNP formed a high-level committee to organise a reception for the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, who will return to Dhaka on December 25 after nearly 18 years.
Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, has been appointed as the committee's convener, with Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general, serving as member secretary.
BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the announcement, saying, "The party leaders, activists, supporters, and the general public are eagerly awaiting the arrival of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on December 25."
"To greet him, a committee has been formed, with BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed as convener and Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi as member secretary."
The reception committee is made up of several high-ranking officials, including the BNP's ten divisional organising secretaries, the presidents and general secretaries of the party's various affiliated organisations, and the conveners and member secretaries of the Dhaka Mohanagar North and South units.
The reception committee held its first meeting on Tuesday afternoon to plan Tarique Rahman's return. This came after the BNP and its affiliated organisations held a joint meeting last Monday at the BNP Chairperson's Office in Gulshan, the capital.
