Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, a BNP Standing Committee Member, stated on Thursday that the party plans to finalise seat sharing with allied parties by Friday.
The BNP will share a seat with its allies who participated in the same movement against the fascist Awami League government.
Major Hafiz spoke to journalists after an exchange of views with 100 nominated party candidates at the BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office.
The BNP has already announced candidates for 266 seats, and a decision on 36 seats will be made by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, he stated.
He stated that the party is focusing on preparing the BNP-nominated candidates for the polls. He added that the candidates are receiving training on electoral strategies and responsibilities in order to meet public expectations.
Major Hafiz stated that various groups, including a religion-based party, are spreading propaganda against the BNP, and that party candidates have been trained on how to counter this smear campaign.
"The rival party is not being underestimated. Instead, the candidates have been given a theoretical framework for how to conduct their activities during the election.
Details of the BNP's 31-point programme, as well as how to use visual and non-visual media content, were explained to the candidates before they began their campaign," he added.
The BNP leader stated that the party's media cell has created four- to five-minute reels and plans to use them to counter false propaganda against the BNP.
He claimed that the BNP is being portrayed as an 'extortionist party', but a research team from the party gathered information through public engagement in various regions, and a large portion of these allegations were proven false.
Documentary videos demonstrating how to combat these false campaigns, based on facts and figures, were distributed to candidates via laptops and pen drives, he stated.
Major Hafiz went on to say that there was a thorough discussion about the content of various initiatives, such as development projects, family cards, and farmer cards, as well as why they were being presented to farmers.
"Our main goal is to keep the electoral campaign positive and provide appropriate responses to false propaganda against the party," he stated.
Major Hafiz went on to say, "An election team is disseminating various contents so that the public, particularly marginalised people, farmers, workers, and the general public, can easily understand the BNP's policies."
Everyone has been informed about these issues via videos," he said, adding that potential practical issues during the election will be addressed in the afternoon.
He emphasised that these guidelines are being distributed to BNP candidates so that everyone can deliver the same message, thereby strengthening party unity.
Major Hafiz stated that the BNP has been in power four times through popular vote, and based on that experience, the party is confident that the people will vote for the BNP again.
