The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has collected nomination forms on behalf of its chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, as well as its acting chairman Tarique Rahman, for two constituencies in Bogura ahead of the country’s upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

A nomination form for Khaleda Zia was collected on Sunday afternoon for the Bogura-7 constituency, covering the Gabatoli and Shajahanpur areas. The form was collected by former lawmaker Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, who is serving as her election coordinator.

Speaking to journalists after collecting the form from the district election office, Helaluzzaman said Khaleda Zia had previously been elected from the Bogura-7 constituency for three consecutive terms. He expressed confidence in her prospects in the upcoming vote, saying local residents were eager to support her.

Earlier in the day, a nomination form was also collected on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman for the Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency. District BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha collected the form from the office of the deputy commissioner and returning officer.

Rezaul Karim Badsha said Tarique Rahman would contest the election from the Bogura-6 seat, describing the decision as a source of pride for the party. He added that BNP leaders were confident of strong support from voters in the area.

Senior BNP figures and a large number of party leaders and activists were present during both nomination form collections.

The 13th National Parliamentary Election is expected to take place later this year, with political parties preparing to finalise their candidates in the coming days.
