Fakhrul submits nomination papers for Thakurgaon-1

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday submitted his nomination papers for the Thakurgaon-1 constituency.

He went to the DC office from the district BNP office by rickshaw on Monday afternoon and submitted his nomination papers to the District Returning Officer.

Before filing the nomination, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke at a brief  meeting at the district BNP office, saying, “We want to live peacefully with people of all religions, but many are trying to create division and confusion.”

“We never did it in the past and will not do so in the future,” he added.

He said, unfortunately, in the last 15 years, politics of division had been practised. Attempts were made to divide the society, but now we are trying to build a society of communal harmony,” he said.

The Secretary General said, “The country lost many lives in the 24-day movement last year. We want to form a democratic state by eliminating corruption.”

He also said, “Just as we show loyalty to our own religion, we must also show respect for the religions of others.”

Mirza Fakhrul said, “This election is a very important one. We have to decide to establish a truly liberal democratic country where men and women will have equal status.”

He urged all, including Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian come together to create a beautiful environment in the country.”

District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poygam Ali and others were present on the occasion.
