Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman performed the weekly Jummah prayers at the Navy Headquarters Mosque in Dhaka on Friday, party sources said.

Rahman arrived at the mosque shortly before 1:00 pm and joined worshippers for the congregational prayer. Following the prayer, he took part in a dua and munajat, seeking peace, prosperity and well-being for the country and its people.

He left the mosque at around 2:00 pm and returned to his residence without incident.

Security arrangements were in place during his visit, though no disruptions were reported.

Rahman’s appearance comes amid heightened political activity following his recent return to Bangladesh after a long period abroad. Since his return, he has been attending a number of public and private engagements, including religious observances.

Political observers say such appearances are closely watched as the country moves towards the next general election, with parties stepping up their public presence and outreach.

The BNP did not immediately comment on whether they planned further public engagements for the day.
