BNP wants to build a parliament where there will be no more dance and songs, rather the voices of the people will be heard there and it will not be a place for any kind of terrorists, said BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed on Tuesday.

He came up with the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a meeting of the activists of BNP’s women’s wing at the union BNP office at Charingia Palakata Fish Landing Station under Chakaria Upazila in Cox’s Bazar.

“No future democratic government will be able to go off track anymore. We want to build such a parliament which will not only be free from dance and songs; rather, the voices of the people will be heard there and it will not be a place for any kind of terrorism. In parliament, discussions will be held on people’s development and on the democratic rights of the country,” he added.

Salahuddin Ahmed further said, “In the future parliament, laws will be enacted through which Bangladesh will move forward. We want such a parliament where the practice of excessive praise and flattery will no longer exist. Members of parliament will speak for the people and there will be accountability in that parliament. Through such a parliament, we want to set up an example on the world stage.”

“The upcoming election will determine the direction of Bangladesh’s progress. It will be an election to realise the true democratic rights of the people. Not only that, the upcoming election will be one to implement what we are preparing for, standing on the blood of martyrs. Therefore, we believe the upcoming election will be the most important election in the nation’s history. It will change the fate of the nation; democracy will stand on a strong foundation, all democratic institutions will gain a strong base and through this, those institutions will work as safeguards of democracy,” he said.

Chakaria Upazila BNP President Enamul Haque, its General Secretary M Mobarak Ali, Cox’s Bazar District BNP Vice-President Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury Khokon Mia, Chakaria’s Charingia Union BNP Convener Ali Ahmed, its Member Secretary Shariful Alam and women leaders, among others, were also present at the event.
