BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday held separate meetings with leaders of seven political parties, discussing the country’s overall situation, ongoing political developments and election-related issues.
The meetings took place individually at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan, according to BNP Media Cell Member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
The visiting delegations were led by Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Amjanata Party leader Mia Moshiuzzaman, NAP (Bhashani) leader Azharul Islam, Jono Odhikar Party leader Ismail Hossain Samrat, Nezami Islami Party leader AKM Ashraful Haque, Gonoforum leader Subrata Chowdhury and Democratic Left Alliance leader Harun Chowdhury.
Sayrul Kabir Khan said the discussions centred on the country’s prevailing situation, recent political developments and various electoral issues.
Later in the day, a delegation from the newly elected Executive Committee of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) also met Tarique Rahman as part of a courtesy visit.
The DRU team was led by its President Abu Saleh Akon and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel.
During the meeting, Tarique congratulated the new leadership and praised journalists for their role in upholding the free flow of information, Sayrul added.
