As part of the campaign for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to visit Panchagarh on Friday.

He will attend a public rally as the chief guest at the Panchagarh Sugar Mill ground on Friday, organised by the district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami, party sources said.

According to the sources, Dr Shafiqur Rahman will speak at the rally on the forthcoming national election, the country’s current political situation and Jamaat-e-Islami’s electoral commitments.

He is also expected to give directives to party leaders and activists.

Ahead of his visit, Jamaat brought out a welcoming procession in Panchagarh Town on Wednesday night, which paraded through different streets of the town. Earlier in the day, the district Jamaat organised a press conference at its party office.

Meanwhile, district and upazila-level leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami have taken extensive preparations centring the public rally, intensifying campaign activities to ensure its success.

District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Iqbal Hossain said the people of the country are expecting a free, fair and credible election.

“Jamaat-e-Islami is conducting its election activities peacefully and in a disciplined manner to fulfil that expectation. From the Panchagarh rally, we will convey the message of people’s rights and the establishment of a justice-based state,” he added.
