Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Mufti SyedMuhammad Rezaul Karim Pir Sahib Charmonai said the party has decided to contest election independently for the sake of Islam after attempts to unite Islamist groups were unsuccessful.

"Jamaat has strayed from its pledge to implement Islamic principles, leaving Islami Andolan to pursue its path alone. I have come to seek your votes for ‘Hat Pakha’ (hand Fan) symbol. By Allah's mercy, we are not alone. People from all walks of life and the respected ulema are with us," he said.

Charmonai Pir made the remarks during separate election rallies on Sunday, supporting Mufti Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui, Islami Andolan's candidate for Mymensingh-6, in Fulbari, and Professor Dr Nasir Uddin, the party's candidate for Mymensingh-4, at Krishnochura Chattar in Mymensingh City.

"If the public entrusts us with governance, we will eliminate the roots of corruption, Insha'Allah. We will build a Bangladesh that meets the expectations of the people," he said.

The Pir emphasised that while many candidates promise development, they rarely address principled governance.

"If parliament members formulate proper policies and hold the administration accountable, development will automatically reach the people," he said.

He also criticised the past 54 years of governance, saying the country has suffered from corruption, killings, abductions and money laundering under the guise of development.

Islami Andolan, he said, works not merely for leadership change but for the reform of principles.

Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Central Training Secretary Maulana Nurul Karim Akram, Student Movement Central Vice-President Hossain Ahmed, and other party leaders, among others, also joined the rally.
