Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and candidate for Khulna-5 constituency Mia Golam Parwar has said the sufferings, corruption and mismanagement that have prevailed over the last 54 years will continue if Jamaat-e-Islami is not voted to power.

“Without victory of ‘Daripalla’, the sufferings of the country will continue,” he said while addressing election rallies in Khulna on Monday.

The Jamaat leader joined processions, courtyard meetings and door-to-door campaigns in Phultala Upazila’s Patiabandha, Dhopakhola and Piprail, and Dumuria Upazila’s Mandra, Dahkhola, Pakuria, Rudaghara and Shailgati areas.

Golam Parwar claimed that students have already defeated extortionists in various students’ union elections. Therefore, corrupt and extortionist elements can also be defeated in the national election,” he said.

He called upon voters to rise above party affiliations and vote for the persons ‘having honesty and good moral character’.

“If the sheaf of paddy, boat and plough can run the state, the scales (Daripalla) can do so as well- this is our right,” he said.

He also called for maintaining cordial relation with all political parties, including BNP, Awami League and Jatiya Party and stressed for love rather than hostility.

Urging voters to go to the polling centres early in the morning on the Election Day, he said, “Cast your vote first and then return home. Youths will have the responsibility to guard polling centres so that no vote rigging or violence takes place.”

Khulna District Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary Munshi Moinul Islam, Advocate Abu Yusuf Mollah, former vice-chairman of Phultala Upazila Parishad Principal Gawsul Azam Hadi, Phultala Upazila Ameer Professor Abdul Alim Mollah, Dumuria Upazila Ameer Maulana Moktar Hossain, Naib-e-Ameer Maulana Habibur Rahman, and Acting Secretary Abdur Rashid Biswas, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
