BNP Standing Committee Member and the party-nominated candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency Mirza Abbas on Thursday called upon the voters to go to polling centres and cast vote for their favourite candidates.
He said, “The people of the country have achieved voting rights through many sacrifices and struggles. Everyone must go to the voting centres to exercise this right and vote for the candidates of their choice.”
Mirza Abbas made the remarks while addressing an election rally held at Aziz Super Market Auditorium in Shahbagh, Dhaka.
Later on, he conducted public outreach around Kataban, Elephant Road and Bangladesh Medical University area, seeking votes for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’.
The BNP leader said, "I have contested elections at least five times, you have seen. Those of you who are old have you ever heard me speak ill of anyone? I have always spoken about what I will do, that's what I've said."
Regarding election campaigning, he said, “to seek votes, one must speak about their own work and future plans, not by spreading slander against others.”
Mirza Abbas further said that he has established two hospitals in Dhaka - Mugda Medical Hospital and a diabetic hospital. Additionally, he has carried out various development works in his constituency including job arrangements, playgrounds and colleges.
He further said that the struggle he waged to secure voting rights is his greatest achievement.
