Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim has said that Jamaat-e-Islami wanted to use us by taking the leadership of the alliance.
"We were moving forward by forming an eight-party alliance including Jamaat-e-Islami. But later, Jamaat added other parties without telling us and took over the leadership of the alliance. Jamaat wanted to use us through that leadership," he said.
Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, popularly known as Charmonai Peer, said this in response to questions from journalists after an IAB election rally, marking the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election held at the Rangpur Public Library ground on Thursday evening.
He said, "We had a big hope and aspiration that there would be a big rise in favour of Islam. That hope has turned into darkness."
Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim said that Jamaat-e-Islami does not want to take Islam to the state level.
"So, we were forced to withdraw from it and as per the promise we had made before the nation, we have placed a box of Islam in front of the nation with the symbol of a 'Hand fan'. I hope that the box placed on the path of Islam will win, Insha'Allah," he said.
Those who want the liberation of humanity, those who want to establish Islam, especially the scholars, are with the hand fan. They are looking forward to making the hand fan win.
He said that the IAB is very worried and disappointed about the election. The interim government had said that it was going to give such an election, an election that people will remember.
"I am talking about remembering that, you (interim government) will create such an environment, we are now noticing that violence is going on in different places, the position that has been taken with an aggressive role," he said.
He said, "The way our female workers are being treated in Bhola is very sad. If you (interim government) don't fix the environment now, you (interim government) will have to take responsibility for the environment in the future."
Earlier, he spoke as the chief guest at the election rally organised by Rangpur District and Metropolitan units of IAB at the city's Rangpur Public Library ground.
During this rally, local and central leaders of the party spoke.
