Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday promised that his party would invite all political parties to participate in running the country if Jamaat secures a parliamentary majority.
Speaking at an election rally at Chouddagram High School ground in Cumilla, he said, “If we achieve a majority, we will offer those who are now competing with us a role in running the country. The only condition is that they must not engage in corruption and must implement the July charter.”
Dr Shafiqur Rahman stressed that Jamaat-e-Islami aims to form a unity government to ensure inclusive decision-making and collective progress for the nation.
“We do not want victory for Jamaat-e-Islami alone; we want a collective victory for all the 18-crore people of Bangladesh,” he said.
He called on voters to support candidates of the 11-party alliance, emphasising the importance of cooperation to secure success in all 300 parliamentary constituencies.
The Jamaat leader also highlighted the role of women and youth in shaping the country’s future. “A new chapter will begin after 12 February, with young people as well as the country’s mothers and sisters playing a central role in building a prosperous Bangladesh,” he said.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman further said that his party is committed to eliminating corruption and ensuring good governance. “If you vote for us and we come to power, you will see experienced leaders like Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher serving as senior members of the cabinet to help take the country forward,” he added.
Referring to past challenges, he said Jamaat leaders and activists remained steadfast despite repression. “We were there, we are here, and we will remain, InshaAllah,” he said, reaffirming the party’s commitment to long-term national development.
