BNP Secretary General and the party-backed candidate for Thakurgaon-1 constituency Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged voters to cast their ballots responsibly, stressing that the country’s future rests in their hands.

“Voters are the real owners of the country, and there is no room for mistakes,” he said while addressing an election rally at Munshipara in Ward No-9 of Akcha Union under Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila on Saturday.

Fakhrul also said that BNP’s biggest goal is to restore peace in the country. The party’s politics is rooted in public service, building infrastructure, schools, colleges and hospitals, where they are needed.

Highlighting past hardships, Fakhrul alleged that the previous government’s tenure was marked by repression, citing those 70 cases were filed in Thakurgaon alone involving around 7,000 people. “After a long period of struggle, people are now moving towards better days,” he added.

Referring to the past 17 years, he said people suffered under what he described as a ‘fascist rule,’ emphasising the importance of voters taking a decisive stand to change the course of the country.

Fakhrul also highlighted BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman’s proposal to introduce family cards, which would allow families to buy daily essentials at lower prices and access healthcare and education. He said farmers would benefit from cards to purchase fertiliser and seeds at fair prices.

Emphasising communal harmony, Fakhrul said Hindus and Muslims have lived together peacefully for generations in the area and pledged to end communal divisions permanently.

“This is my final request - please support me this time so that I get the opportunity to work for you,” he said, reiterating the responsibility of voters to choose wisely for the nation’s future.
