BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said Bangladesh stands at a critical juncture where the opportunity to build a just and democratic state must not be wasted, stressing the need for a credible and participatory electoral process.

Addressing a public outreach programme in Thakurgaon-1 constituency in the morning, he said BNP is striving to ensure an election environment where all political parties can participate freely and voters can exercise their rights without fear.

“BNP is working relentlessly to create a fair, transparent and inclusive electoral atmosphere so that people can choose their representatives freely,” he said.

Mirza Fakhrul alleged that certain forces are attempting to obstruct democratic progress and keep the country from moving forward, warning that such efforts threaten the nation’s future.

He also spoke out strongly against any attempt to marginalise women, saying Bangladesh cannot progress by pushing half of its population out of social and economic life.

Referring to a recent controversial post on X (formerly Twitter) attributed to the Jamaat Ameer, the BNP leader said if such remarks were made, they were unacceptable.

“In Bangladesh, men and women will move forward together, working side by side to build the country and contribute to the world,” he said.

Calling on voters to act with courage and responsibility, Mirza Fakhrul said the upcoming election would determine the direction of the nation.

“The future of Bangladesh now rests in your hands. Decisions made at the ballot box will shape the destiny of the country,” he said at the gathering.
