Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman called on the people to support leadership rooted in justice and fairness, promising a government focused on youth empowerment, women’s security and national development.

Addressing a rally at the Circuit House ground in Mymensingh on Tuesday, he said, “The people of Bangladesh are seeking leadership that stands for truth, justice and fairness, and is committed to building a society and state inspired by the ideals of Madina.”

Dr Shafiqur Rahman stressed that the upcoming election is pivotal for putting the nation on a new path.

“This is not an ordinary election. It is a chance to shape a Bangladesh that is safe, dignified and justice-oriented,” he said, urging voters to back the ‘yes’ vote in the upcoming referendum, describing it as a vote for freedom and empowerment.

Highlighting the country’s untapped potential, he noted, “Bangladesh is a fertile, resource-rich land, yet decades of mismanagement have prevented it from becoming a dignified state.”

Citing Bangladesh Agricultural University, he said that while it has contributed significantly to the nation, inadequate funding, research support, and manpower have limited its impact.

“Under a justice-based government, this institution will be elevated to world-class standards, benefiting Bangladesh and beyond,” he added.

Focusing on youth employment, Dr Shafiqur Rahman said, “Our young people are not demanding handouts - they are demanding work. We will provide them with skills, training, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the country’s growth.”

Addressing women, he pledged that mothers and sisters would enjoy full security at home, workplaces, educational institutions and public spaces, emphasising that women’s dignity would never be compromised.

Chaired by Jamaat-e-Islami Mymensingh Metropolitan Ameer Maulana Kamrul Ahsan Emrul, the rally was also addressed by Jamaat candidates and leaders, including Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, Abdul Karim, Kamrul Hasan Milon, Asaduzzaman Sohel and Shahidullah Kaisar.

The speakers reinforced the party’s commitment to justice, development and inclusive governance for all citizens.
