BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday emphasised that the party prioritises tangible work and development over empty criticism.

Addressing rallies at Kismat Daulatpur Dakhil Madrasa and Eidgah ground in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila, Fakhrul said, “BNP has always believed in action, not mere rhetoric. Politics is the right of everyone, but it must be conducted honestly and respectfully.”

He criticised parties spreading false promises and misleading women with hollow assurances, asking, “How can those who do not respect our mothers and sisters - who make up half of the country - govern the nation?”

Fakhrul outlined BNP’s development agenda, promising that if elected, the party would establish agro-based industries, set up factories, provide technical training, and create employment for one crore youth within 18 months.

Recalling past injustices, he said the fallen Awami League government filed 117 false cases against him, and he endured three and a half years in jail.

He also highlighted the sacrifices of BNP leaders, noting that over 20,000 party activists were killed during periods of political unrest, and praised the late party leader Begum Khaleda Zia for her resilience in prison.

The BNP secretary general urged voters to ensure victory for the party by casting ballots for the “sheaf of paddy” in the 12 February election.

He pledged family cards for all citizens and farmer cards for agricultural workers, including access to fertiliser, seeds, oil, and a waiver of loans up to Tk10,000.

Additionally, he said the government would take responsibility for women’s NGO loan instalments.

Local BNP leaders and general voters attended the rally, witnessing the party’s commitment to development-focused politics.
