Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Birampur in the district on Saturday as part of his election campaign.
The party has undertaken extensive preparations to ensure the success of his visit.
BNP National Standing Committee member and Dinajpur-6 constituency candidate Dr AZM Zahid Hossain confirmed the programme at a press briefing held at the Birampur Government College ground at 11 AM on Friday.
He said that Tarique Rahman will attend the rally as chief guest at the Birampur Government College ground on Saturday at 12:30 pm and deliver a speech.
Dr Zahid Hossain noted that the venue carries historical significance for the BNP, as party founder and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had addressed gatherings there during his lifetime, while former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia also spoke before a massive crowd at the same ground.
With the announcement of Tarique Rahman’s visit, he said, a festive atmosphere has emerged among people of all professions in the area.
He expected the rally to attract a massive turnout comparable to a high tide and said the event would play an extremely important role in the election campaign of the Dinajpur-6 constituency.
Preparations for the grand rally are in full swing, with Dr Zahid Hossain personally inspecting the arrangements several times until Friday morning.
Following his inspection on Friday, he held a courtesy meeting with Acting Principal Adwait Kumar of Birampur Government College and provided guidance to party leaders and activists to ensure the rally’s success.
He called upon party members to maintain enthusiasm and cordiality surrounding Tarique Rahman’s visit, urging all to unite for the restoration of democracy in the country.
Meanwhile, a festive atmosphere has spread across four upazilas of Dinajpur-6 ahead of Tarique Rahman's arrival. The announcement of his visit after a long interval has sparked widespread excitement among BNP leaders, activists, and affiliate organisations.
Extensive decorations and preparations are underway to welcome him and ensure a massive turnout at the rally.
