BNP Secretary General and the party-nominated candidate for Thakurgaon-1 constituency Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged voters to cast a ‘yes’ vote in the upcoming referendum, calling it the key to meaningful state reforms and a decisive break from Bangladesh’s history of failed governance.

Speaking at an election rally in Galimbabur Haat area of Jagannathpur Union in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila on Sunday, Mirza Fakhrul said the referendum presents a clear choice between reform and stagnation.

“The core question is simple: who wants reform and who does not,” he said, “Those who ran the country the old way have fled. To rebuild the nation, reforms are essential, and this referendum gives the people the chance to decide.”

He called on all voters to support reform by voting ‘yes’. “Those who want change will vote for ‘yes’ and those who don’t will vote for ‘no’. We all want reform, so we will all vote for ‘yes’,” he added.

Addressing members of the Hindu community, the BNP leader assured them of protection and support. “I, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will always stand by you. No one will be allowed to harm you,” he said.

Speaking to the general public, he highlighted the significance of the upcoming vote. “In just three days, it will be decided whether the country continues on its old path or moves forward on a new one. Don’t you want to see Bangladesh governed in a new way?”

Mirza Fakhrul also praised BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, describing him as young, energetic and modern in outlook.

“We need new leadership instead of old-style politics. This country requires a young prime minister who can bring fresh ideas and take Bangladesh forward,” he said.

He concluded by urging unity among voters to support the reform agenda. “Let us all stand together for change and a brighter future for Bangladesh,” he added.
