Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on Sunday outlined his party’s comprehensive plan to improve livelihoods, promote economic self-reliance and modernise Dhaka’s urban infrastructure, stressing that political debate should focus on actionable solutions rather than attacking rivals.
Speaking at a public rally at the Adarsha High School ground in Mirpur-10 under Dhaka-15 constituency, Tarique emphasised that citizens are most concerned with tangible improvements in their lives.
“People want to know what parties will do to rebuild the nation, create jobs, and improve social services,” he said.
Tarique announced a nationwide rollout of “family cards” to provide housewives with government support and encourage self-sufficiency. Similarly, farmers will benefit from “farmer cards” and debt relief programs, including the waiver of loans up to Tk10,000, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity. “If farmers prosper, Bangladesh prospers,” he remarked.
Addressing youth unemployment and skill development, Tarique pledged to establish vocational training centres and IT skill programmes across the country, including in Dhaka. For overseas workers, the BNP plans to offer affordable loans to reduce the financial burden of migration.
Urban development also featured prominently. Tarique promised 40 new playgrounds in Dhaka, canal excavation to reduce waterlogging and the establishment of hospitals to enhance healthcare access. Public safety and law enforcement will be strengthened, alongside a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
“The success of any plan depends on controlling corruption,” he said, adding that only effective governance can transform citizens’ fortunes. By prioritising practical measures over political attacks, Tarique presented BNP’s vision as a roadmap for sustainable national development.
Earlier, Tarique Rahman addressed an election rally in Pallabi’s Ward No-2 area under Dhaka-16 constituency. At the event, he announced his party’s plans to establish a hospital in the area to improve healthcare services for local residents.
