BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday urged voters to entrust his party with governing Bangladesh, highlighting its preparedness to tackle pressing challenges such as unemployment, social inequality and public service gaps.

Addressing a large rally at Kalabagan ground in Dhaka, Tarique emphasised that the upcoming 12 February presents a historic opportunity to restore citizens’ rights and rebuild the state after years of governance failures.

“Bangladeshis have waited 16 years to exercise their voting rights. Many sacrificed their lives to reclaim this fundamental right. Now is the moment to move forward and rebuild the country,” he said.

Tarique outlined a series of citizen-focused initiatives BNP will implement if elected.

He promised “family cards” to support women, “farmer cards” to strengthen agriculture, and “expatriate cards” to assist overseas workers in accessing affordable loans without selling land or property.

Highlighting youth empowerment, he pledged the establishment of technical and vocational training centres nationwide, enabling young people to find dignified jobs both domestically and abroad.

He also promised to recruit 1 lakh community health workers to expand primary healthcare services, while improving infrastructure in hospitals and local clinics.

On governance, Tarique stressed that BNP aims to restore accountability and transparency, tackling corruption that has plagued mega projects over the past decade.

“Our priority is to rebuild state institutions, ensure transparency, and make governance responsive to the people,” he said.

Speaking about his connection to Dhaka-17, Tarique highlighted his deep roots in the area and stressed that local knowledge and experience matter in delivering practical solutions.

He also introduced the BNP candidate for Dhaka-10 and urged voters nationwide to support the party’s vision.

“Our goal is simple: a safe, prosperous, and fair Bangladesh for all. BNP has the experience, planning and commitment to make it a reality,” he concluded.
