BNP’s Election Steering Committee Spokesperson Mahdi Amin on Thursday expressed strong confidence in his party’s electoral success, urging leaders and activists to remain vigilant until the final results are officially announced.
Speaking at a press conference at the BNP’s Election Steering Committee office in Dhaka’s Gulshan in the evening, Amin said the party’s victory was “inevitable” and called on supporters to closely monitor the vote counting and result declaration process.
He appealed to what he described as pro-democratic citizens to stay alert so that the people’s verdict is properly protected.
“Those involved in election management on behalf of BNP and its affiliated organisations must ensure there is no irregularity during counting or in the announcement of results,” he said.
Amin claimed that voters had turned out with deep emotion and high expectations, adding that a government formed through a genuine public mandate would honour that trust.
At the same time, he alleged that incidents of violence and irregularities had occurred in different areas since the previous night, including what he termed the influence of “black money” aimed at undermining the credibility of the election.
He claimed that voters were threatened in some places and that pre-stamped ballots and fake voting were reported in certain centres.
Despite these allegations, Amin acknowledged the role of law enforcement and security forces in maintaining overall order and thanked the Election Commission, armed forces, interim government, and others involved in organising the polls.
He also expressed condolences to those injured or killed in election-related incidents.
Asserting that no “ill attempt” could reverse the outcome, Amin said the scale of public support for BNP was evident and overwhelming.
BNP Media Cell Convener Professor Moudud Hossain Almgir Pavel and its Member Shairul Kabir Khan, among others, were also present at the briefing.
