Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman has secured victories in both Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6 constituencies in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, according to unofficial results released on Thursday night.

In Dhaka-17, Tarique Rahman received 54,825 votes, defeating Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Dr Khaliduzzaman, who garnered 46,840 votes. The margin of victory stood at 7,985 votes, reflecting a closely contested race in the capital constituency.

Party sources said the results were compiled from polling centres after the completion of vote counting.

Tarique Rahman also recorded a commanding performance in Bogura-6 (Sadar), a constituency considered one of BNP’s strongholds.

According to preliminary data gathered from 67 polling centres, he secured 1,15,032 votes, while his nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Abidur Rahman Sohel, contesting with the balance scale symbol, received 38,356 votes.

Bogura Sadar Upazila BNP President Maftun Ahmed Khan Rubel claimed that Tarique led in all 150 polling centres in the constituency.

He said the figures were based on reports provided by party polling agents stationed at the centres.

Bogura District Election Officer Fazlul Haque said Bogura-6 has 4,54,029 registered voters, with turnout recorded at 71.34 per cent. A total of four candidates contested the seat.

The Election Commission is expected to announce the official results after final verification and consolidation of all polling data.
